Dayot Upamecano could move in January, according to reports. Liverpool supposedly want the Frenchman.
The door is open for Dayot Upamecano to move in January. That’s according to SportBild in a new report.
They discuss the possibility of Upamecano moving to Bayern Munich – he is a footballer in Germany, after all. But SportBild believes it’s tough for the Bavarians.
They’ll only bring him in once they know David Alaba’s future. He could yet stay but he could disappear somewhere else. It’s a waiting game.
Their big problem, then, is that a Premier League side could swoop in and sign Upamecano in January.

SportBild name Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool as teams interested in the 22-year-old.
Any deal would cost at least £40m, though. That’s the release clause in Upamecano’s contract but it only comes into effect this summer. You’d imagine RB Leipzig would want more than that to let him go early.
What RTK has to say
We’re far from certain that Liverpool will sign anyone in January. It isn’t typically how they do business.
The Reds plan things out, rather than react to injuries and such. With that in mind, it’s worth bracing yourself for a dull January.
But if Upamecano really is available, they’ve got to consider it. He’s a fantastic defender who suits their style and is only 22. £40m is a bargain for that.
SportBild linked Liverpool with the player before the injury crisis, too. If they’re correct, the Reds would merely bring forward their interest. That could be far more palatable for the people behind the scenes.
We’ll have to wait and see. But step one for this to happen was Upamecano being available in January – it looks like that is the case. If Liverpool want him, they might have to act.
