Many Liverpool fans react to Andy Robertson starting for Scotland on Wednesday. It’s a controversial decision.
Liverpool fans haven’t reacted perfectly to Andy Robertson starting for Scotland. The captain takes to the field to face Israel just days after injury.
The Mirror says Robertson missed the Slovakia game with a tight hamstring. Scotland boss Steve Clarke admitted afterwards that it would have been a risk to play him.
But he also said that he wanted to take him to Israel. Clarke hoped Robertson could ‘get on the pitch’ – he’s done more than that. He starts.
Liverpool’s injury crisis makes this a controversial one. Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thiago, and Mohamed Salah will all miss the Leicester City clash. Jordan Henderson could, too.

So taking a risk on Robertson – just two days after a tight hamstring – seems needless. Here’s how some Reds fans reacted.
Not happy, then.
Honestly, this might not be the end of the world. It could be a sign that Robertson is ready to go and missing the Slovakia game did him good.
On the other hand, Clarke may be taking a risk. Scotland need a win to guarantee they top their Nations League group. With that in mind, he was always going to play his captain if he could.
‘Could’ is subjective, of course. He ‘could’ play him as long as he can stand up straight. Hopefully, then, this is because Robertson is fine.
It’s worth noting that Liverpool don’t play until Sunday evening, either. If Robertson needs a little recovery time, he’ll get it.
Until then, we’ll just cross our fingers.
