Liverpool are going to have to chop and change a lot this season. The Reds have been decimated by injuries in recent weeks, meaning that the boss is going to have to get creative in his preparation. We could well see some academy starlets called into action. Billy Koumetio has been training with the Liverpool first team ahead of the visit from Leicester City.
Billy the Kid
Signed from Orleans in 2018, Billy Koumetio has been impressing fans and coaches alike in recent years.
Jürgen Klopp described the player as a ‘big talent’, Pep Lijnders has been equally enthusiastic about the player’s future.
The French teenager was afforded opportunities during pre-season and he took them with both hands, despite a couple of mistakes.
Not only has he impressed on the pitch but we’ve also seen him be a part of history off it, Koumetio was a ball boy the night that the Reds humiliated Barcelona in the Champions League.

Billy Koumetio in first team training
In a video from the first session at the new AXA Training Centre, Billy Koumetio can be spotted in first team training.
The Frenchman had happy birthday sung to him by his teammates after he turned 18-years-old last week.
He is seen working alongside the likes of James Milner and Divock Origi ahead of Sunday’s tie with Leicester City.
What RTK has to say
Whilst he may only have been a part of the group because most of the first team are away on international duty, we can’t discount the possibility that he’s in line to make the squad.
The youngster was a go to in pre-season and he may well have been given a first team appearance already this season had it not been for injury.
We’ll find out in the coming days who is fit and who isn’t, if Fabinho is out of the game then we could well see Billy Koumetio at least make the bench.
