Inter have joined the race for Gini Wijnaldum, according to reports. The Dutchman’s future is up in the air.
CalcioMercato believe Inter want Gini Wijnaldum. They’re only sounding things out at the moment but plan on making the player an offer.
And they can officially do so in January. Wijnaldum’s contract expires in June, meaning non-domestic teams can deal with him from New Year.
Barcelona, too, want the player and the duo will likely fight it out to see who can entice Wijnaldum.
The report claims the 30-year-old fancies a new challenge after six years in England, meaning both Inter and Barca will attract him.

What RTK has to say
Not surprised and not good. Defensive issues have taken the focus off but Wijnaldum’s contract will likely be the biggest discussion of the January transfer window.
He’s a key player, after all, and he’s playing a big role after all the injuries. Yet Liverpool have little over a month to sign him long-term.
Otherwise, this becomes a tough fight. The more European giants in the mix, the higher those wage demands will be, to put it simply.
Both Inter and Barca make sense for Wijnaldum, too. They’re teams looking to compete but both can give him a significant role in midfield. More significant than Liverpool can, arguably.
Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago is likely the first-choice midfield trio when everyone is fit. And we could see Curtis Jones quickly develop into a player just behind those three.
In that scenario, it’s hard to see why Wijnaldum would tie down the final years of his peak to Liverpool. Elsewhere, he could get an important role and possibly more money, too.
Unfortunately, it’s looking increasingly likely that this will be his final season in Red.
