An NHL coach believes Jurgen Klopp is one of the best ‘in all sports’. It’s very high praise for the German.
Jurgen Klopp is one of the greatest around, according to an NHL coach. The coach is Ralph Krueger, who currently looks after the Buffalo Sabres.
“I am most impressed by his honest culture,” he told Goal. “Players have a say with him, he doesn’t work with pressure or fear.
“Jurgen leads with love and honesty. In addition, there is a very clear plan behind the emotionality and passion, a very clear structure.
“And Jurgen also works in such a way that he wants to keep learning personally. For me, he is one of the greatest coaches at the moment – in all sports.”

Krueger has had an interesting career. The Canadian-born German played hockey in Europe but ended up as chairman of Southampton Football Club.
Now he’s in the United States, coaching the Sabres.
What RTK has to say
In some ways, it does go without saying. Klopp is at the top of football and that will naturally mean you’re one of the best in all sports.
It’s the biggest game in the world by far, thus the level of competition is higher than it is anywhere else. To reach the top is an enormous accomplishment.
And Klopp is certainly sitting at the top. He’s achieved truly incredible things throughout his career, winning two Bundesliga titles, a Champions League and the Premier League.
He’s done it without being at perennial winners, too. It’s not as though he’s jumped around clubs who already won trophies. Instead, Klopp has taken big clubs back to the top after years of drought.
It’s nice to see him recognised as such from outside the football bubble. Klopp is, unquestionably, one of the greats right now. Time will tell if he’s one of the all-time greats, too.
