Liverpool injury crisis

Liverpool have been ravaged by injuries this season.

Jürgen Klopp has lost 13 members of his first team to injury or illness since the start of the season.

The issues have been worst at the back with Joel Matip missing a large portion of the start of the season with a muscle problem.

Whilst Virgil van Dijk has been ruled out for the campaign with a ruptured ACl.

Since then we have also lost Joe Gomez for a long stretch after he underwent tendon surgery following an incident at England training.

FIFA action on Joe Gomez injury

The Mail has reported that FIFA will compensate Liverpool for the Joe Gomez injury.

The governing body will pay the Reds £2m in compensation in line with the FIFA club protection programme which insures clubs against injuries sustained on international duty.

The money is to cover Gomez’s £80k a week wages during the time that he is sidelined.

At the minute there is no timeline on the defender’s return, though the club haven’t ruled out him playing again this season.

Fans react to FIFA action

One fan said the move is pointless, the damage is already done.

Another called for the captain to be brought back to Merseyside.

Fans were doing the maths.

Other ways to compensate the club were touted.

Whilst others accepted the move with as much grace as can be expected.
