Joe Gomez has sent a message to fans after undergoing knee surgery. It’s one that should genuinely encourage fans.
Joe Gomez underwent knee surgery on Friday after sustaining an injury on England duty.
It’s his second bout of knee surgery, in fact, after a more serious injury back in late 2015. That injury kept the player out for a full year, effectively robbing him of two seasons.
But Gomez was moved to reassure fans with his message on Friday. The 23-year-old took to Twitter to put his thoughts on there.
“The road to recovery has already begun,” he wrote. “I’ve been here before, I know what it takes & I’ll be back better and stronger than ever.

“I’m obviously gutted but this is part of God’s plan and I believe everything happens for a reason.
“I’d like to thank everyone for their well wishes and messages of support. I’m focused on my recovery and supporting my teammates in every way I can.
“See you soon.”
What RTK has to say
Gomez has offered up a genuinely encouraging reminder here. He’s been through a severe knee injury before – even worse than this.
But he came back from that and kicked on to become a World, European, and English champion. It’s significant in his recovery.
Gomez knows what it takes to bounce back. He knows the setbacks, he knows the road and he knows he can recover.
Mentally, that will all make the process so much easier for him. But it should reassure fans, too.
We know Gomez has what it takes to recover from a knee injury as the same player. He did it once and he’ll do it again.
Hopefully, he won’t be out for too long. But when he’s back, we can expect the same fantastic player.
