Liverpool have become one of the most dominant sides in football in recent years. Jürgen Klopp has implemented a unique style of play which has been suffocating opposition. Key to his system are his attacking full backs, the pair have revolutionised the role of the wing back. This summer Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are set to face off in the Euros.
Scotland qualify for Euros
Last night Scotland men’s team qualified for their first major tournament in 23 years.
The Scots defeated Serbia on penalties in a play off to book their place in this summer’s competition.
Steve Clarke’s side went ahead in the second half thanks to Ryan Christie but their hearts were broken in the final minute of the game when Luka Jovic headed home from a corner.
It went down to penalties with David Marshall saving the Serbian’s fifth penalty to send his nation to the Euros.
Alexander-Arnold v Robertson
The result means that Scotland will be in Group D in the summer, teeing up a tie with England.
Which in turn means that on the 18th of June we will likely see Trent Alexander-Arnold v Andy Robertson.
The two are the first choice full backs for their nations and given that they play on opposite flanks we’ll see the up against each other on the same wing.
We’ve never seen this before since they started playing together – the last Scotland v England affair saw Robbo face off against Kyle Walker.
What RTK has to say
I just cannot wait.
This is going to be a delight. Who will come out on top?
Knowing our luck and how the last year has gone, some freak accident will happen to deprive us of the spectacle – someone tripping over their laces or Gareth Southgate playing Tariq Lamptey instead.
Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and we are able to enjoy what is sure to be a fascinating contest down that side of the pitch.
