Report: Liverpool have strong interest in Perr Schuurs

Oh, Liverpool. What are we going to do with you? You keep giving us heart attacks with these injuries. We just wish we could take all the pain away. Here, take my knee. Sadly that isn’t possible and instead the club are going to have to dip into the transfer market in January. According to CalcioMercato, Liverpool have a strong interest in Perr Schuurs of Ajax.

Liverpool injury crisis

The Reds are desperate for a January signing because their backline has fallen apart in recent weeks and months.

The club thought it wise to start the season with just three centre backs after they sold Dejan Lovren and neglected to replace him.

The Merseyside Derby showed how foolish of a decision this was when Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for the season after an horrific tackle by Jordan Pickford.

Joe Gomez’s season is now also in doubt after he picked up an injury on international duty, Kopites are nervously awaiting a prognosis.

Joel Matip was also sidelined but he is now fit again, though for how long for is anybody’s guess.

Liverpool target Perr Schuurs

Given that a new defender is desperately needed, outlets are having a guess at just who will come through the door.

According to CalcioMercato, Liverpool have a ‘strong interest’ in Perr Schuurs of Ajax.

The Dutchman is reportedly valued at €30m (£27m).

The report also claims that both Milan sides are interested in a move for the centre back.

What RTK has to say

This lad could well be the next Virgil van Dijk.

The defender is Dutch, just 20-years-old, aerially dominant and he possesses a strong passing range.

We clearly know a lot about him given that he was on trial with the Reds a few years ago.

Liverpool signing Perr Schuurs makes a lot of sense, whether or not they’ll pursue a deal remains to be seen.

It is definitely one that would excite us, he performed well against Jürgen Klopp’s side in the Champions League.
