David Alaba profile

28-year-old David Alaba has been at Bayern Munich since he was a teenager – joining the academy in 2008.

Since then he has risen through the ranks and collected an embarrassment of trophies for the Bavarian side.

He has lifted the Champions League on two occasions and has won nine Bundesliga titles, along with a host of domestic cups.

He is currently deployed as a centre back for Munich but he broke into the side as a left back. Alaba can play a number of other positions, be it in centre midfield, the wing or even further forward.

Liverpool chasing David Alaba

Given that the Austrian’s contract expires next summer and the Bayern president has suggested that renewal talks have been halted, there are a number of clubs circling the defender hoping to snap him up on a free transfer.

AS in Spain has claimed that Liverpool have identified David Alaba as a ‘primary target’ for next summer.

The report also claims interest from Juventus, Man City and PSG.

What RTK has to say

Liverpool signing David Alaba would be an ideal move given that James Milner is approaching retirement.

Well, he’s approaching the age when a normal footballer would retire but we all know that Milner’s body is built differently.

The Austrian would provide a perfect replacement for the Yorkshireman, Alaba is even more versatile than Milner and they share a winning pedigree.

Fingers crossed Thiago will put in a word with his old teammate to help Liverpool land the utility man.
