Liverpool sign Tsimikas

Kostas Tsimikas was Liverpool’s first signing of the summer when arrived from Olympiakos for £11.75m in early August.

The Greek left back arrived as cover for Andy Robertson after Norwich rejected the Reds’ approach for Jamal Lewis.

We’ve seen the new arrival just once this season, he’s been absent since late September with a thigh problem.

Tsimikas back to fitness

Kostas Tsimikas has travelled to Italy with the Liverpool squad to face Atalanta.

The Greek international was in training this week alongside Joel Matip and Naby Keita, the pair have also been missing for some weeks.

Tsimikas returning to fitness could prove vital for Jürgen Klopp in the coming weeks.

The Reds have been devastated by injuries this season and the congested schedule can be blamed for some of these problems.

This means that the boss will need to rotate his squad as the games pile up in order to protect key players.

Andy Robertson’s energetic, all action style must put a great strain on his body. Could you get up and down a pitch for 90 minutes twice a week?

Having Kostas Tsimikas available could keep Andy Robertson fit and fresh ahead of key fixtures this season.

For instance, if the Greek international was to start against Atalanta then Robbo would be fresh as a daisy for the weekend tie with Manchester City.

If we’re going to retain the title then we need Robbo at his fighting best – his number two can help him in this regard.
