Liverpool have been struggling with injuries this season. The Reds have lost a host of important players since the start of the campaign, forcing Jürgen Klopp to rummage around his squad for solutions. We have still managed to claim top spot heading into November but getting our key stars back is a priority. Thankfully, Liverpool had Joel Matip and Naby Keita in full training ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester City.

Liverpool injury list
The Reds have been rocked in in recent weeks by a string of unfortunate injuries.
Jürgen Klopp has seen his first choice goalkeeper drop out of the side with a shoulder problem.
He has also lost his talismanic centre back, Virgil van Dijk, for the season after he was lunged at by Jordan Pickford.
Since then we’ve also seen Joel Matip and Fabinho ruled out with muscle injuries.
Naby Keita has been absent for some weeks now and Thiago is yet to return after a nasty challenge from Richarlison.
Matip and Keita injury update
Jürgen Klopp has delivered an injury update on Joel Matip and Naby Keita ahead of the Reds’ trip to Atalanta. The boss told his pre-match press conference:
“Naby and Joel trained yesterday with the team, full, Thiago didn’t. So, that’s the situation.
“I have really no idea what I do with this information in the moment because yes, they trained, that’s good, it’s better than if they don’t train. But we have to see what we do with it.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool having Joel Matip back for the weekend trip to Manchester City would be a massive boost for the Reds.
The fact that the Cameroonian is back in full training could well indicate that he’ll be in the lineup to face Manchester City.
Naby Keita’s involvement could also be decisive should Thiago not make it back to fitness in time, the Guinean can make things happen in midfield when he has one of his better days.
Though Matip’s involvement is surely more important given the lack of experience available at the back at the minute.
