Liverpool are going to have an eventful January. The Reds are expected to bring in a centre back in order to cover for the absent Virgil van Dijk. There have been a number of names thrown about as the club weighs up its options. Kopites have been buzzing about Liverpool links to Perr Schuurs.

Virgil van Dijk injury
Liverpool have to sign a centre back in January, there can be no doubt about that.
The Reds entered the season with just three recognised centre backs in the senior squad – a decision questioned by fans and journalists alike.
The gamble nearly immediately backfired with Virgil van Dijk ruled out for the season with an ACL injury and Joel Matip sidelined by a muscle problem.
Since then we have even lost the backup to the backup with Fabinho ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Joe Gomez is the last centre back left standing in the senior squad – the Reds will surely sign another centre back in the coming window as a result.
Liverpool linked with Perr Schuurs
A number of names have been bandied about in the Reds search for a new, ideally young centre back.
The Mirror have now linked Liverpool with a move for Perr Schuurs with the outlet claiming they could try and bring in the youngster in January.
The 20-year-old has established himself as a mainstay in the Ajax defence, starting eight games for the Dutch side this season.
Previously a trialist at Melwood, the young defender has drawn comparisons with Virgil van Dijk and caught the eye of many Kopites with his strong performance against the Reds on the opening day of the Champions League group stage.
Liverpool fans react to Perr Schuurs links
One fan questioned the wisdom of going for youth over experience – wanting David Alaba instead.
Another fan took a different view.
Why not sign both?
Some have compared him to Virgil van Dijk.
He’d be a ‘great asset’.
