Liverpool will be without five players when they host FC Midtjylland at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday’s evening.
Liverpool host FC Midtjylland on Tuesday but they’ll be without five first-team players, say the Liverpool Echo. The Reds may be a little thin as they look for back-to-back Champions League wins.
An obvious one as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn’t played at all this season. The midfielder is out with a knee injury and the club is clearly taking every precaution to get him back 100%.
We’re not sure when we’ll next see him, unfortunately.
Kostas Tsimikas is another long-term absentee. The Greek arrived in the summer but has only got one start in the League Cup to his name thus far.

Home to FC Midtjylland would have been a good game for Liverpool to use Tsimikas, too. The Reds are big favourites, after all, and these are games where they could look to rest Andy Robertson. Hopefully, he gets his chance before too long.
A real shame but Liverpool shouldn’t need Thiago for this one. Instead, we’ll hope he’s ready to face West Ham United at the weekend. The Spaniard doesn’t seem to have any luck right now, with his latest absence coming after a terrible challenge from Richarlison.
But we really just hope Liverpool do everything they can to have him at his best for the trip to Manchester City next month. That’s the big one.
This one’s a bit of a problem. Joel Matip is now one of only two senior centre-halves as Virgil van Dijk will likely miss the season. But the Cameroonian can’t stay fit.
Liverpool will need him – they can’t afford to use Joe Gomez and Fabinho in every single game. Matip has struggled with injury for a year now, though, and it’s starting to really worry.
A strange one, this. Keita apparently trained ahead of the Ajax game last week, per the Echo, but didn’t play against them. He also missed the Sheffield United game and will apparently miss this one, too.
With Thiago out and Fabinho in defence, Liverpool need depth in midfield. Even if Keita hasn’t been flawless this season, the Reds could really do with him back.
