Liverpool had a wildly successful summer transfer window. In typical fashion Michael Edwards secured some astute signings to tackle problem areas on the pitch whilst also getting rid of deadwood for hefty sums. The club also brought some future stars into the academy. Summer signing Melkamu Frauendorf scored his first Liverpool goal in a 4-0 win over Everton.
Liverpool sign Frauendorf
Melkamu Frauendorf joined the Reds’ academy over the summer, arriving from Hoffenheim.
Born in Ethiopia, the youngster represents Germany and has captained the nation’s U16 side.
The 16-year-old is a tricky creative player, an attacking midfielder who is often found on the score sheet.
Frauendorf bags first Liverpool goal
Melkamu Frauendorf bagged his first Liverpool goal this weekend.
The German netted the opener as the Reds went up against Everton U18s in the Mini Derby at Finch Farm.
The ball came to the midfielder after a corner, he produced a slick turn and a smart finish to bag his first goal for the club with just over 15 minutes played.
What RTK has to say
It is excellent news to see that Melkamu Frauendorf has finally bagged a goal for Liverpool.
The German wonderkid has put in a string of impressive performances, it’s a wonder how it took him so long to get on the score sheet.
He has come close on a number of occasions, sometimes missing in inexplicable fashion or caught wrong footed on the six yard box.
The most important thing at his age is that he has consistently found himself in the right place at the right time, it’s finally paid off, fingers crossed it will continue to do so. He’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
