Liverpool can't hold back Diogo Jota any longer - Klopp need to start him

Liverpool have made some smart signings down the years, often these signings take a few months to settle in before we realise just how good they are – Fabinho is a prime example. The Reds may have another such player in their midsts at the moment. Liverpool can’t hold Diogo Jota back any longer – Jürgen Klopp needs to start him.

Liverpool sign Jota

Liverpool signing Diogo Jota caught us all off guard.

The Reds had been chasing Thiago all summer and have a protracted pursuit finally landed the Spaniard.

Just hours after that deal was signed on the dotted line reports began emerging of our interest in Jota, then it was solid interest, then – within a matter of hours – the deal was reported to be done.

Michael Edwards arranged a £41m deal with Wolves for the Portuguese forward, he was announced a day after Thiago.

Poor form Firmino

Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino hasn’t started the season in the finest form.

The Brazilian forward has struggled for consistency, he has appeared subdued at best for the most part.

His pressing hasn’t been as intense as expected and he’s failed to find the net. His two assists make things look better than they are.

After another underwhelming showing against Ajax could tip the scales against the number nine.

Diogo Jota has to start

In his half an hour cameo in Amsterdam, Diogo Jota showed that he deserves a start in the coming weeks.

The Portuguese can’t be held back any longer, his direct running, adept dribbling ability and vision terrified the Ajax defence.

In the dying minutes he managed to pick out Gini Wijnaldum with a superlative curling ball from the left wing deep into the centre of the Dutch back line, a better touch from the midfielder could’ve seen the Reds home and hosed.

Jota has enormous potential, we don’t want to hold him back, he has earned his opportunity, let’s give it to him.
