Jürgen Klopp needs to reward Takumi Minamino - he impressed again

Liverpool have made some bargain signings in recent seasons. The Reds have brought in players on a snip and seen them transform into world class superstars. Some take longer than others to hit the heights but we can always rely on them to do so under the guidance of our gaffer – one such player needs to be given his shot. Jürgen Klopp needs to reward Takumi Minamino with a start after he impressed again.

Liverpool sign Takumi Minamino

Kopites were buzzing with the signing of Takumi Minamino.

The Japan international was in phenomenal form when he faced the Reds twice in the Champions League in the colours of Red Bull Salzburg.

After two thoroughly impressive performances Michael Edwards and co decided to snap him up, paying a paltry £7.25m for the Austrian side’s versatile forward.

Firmino poor form

We can’t pretend that Roberto Firmino has started this season well.

The Brazilian has only registered two assists so far this campaign and hasn’t netted once.

His pressing hasn’t been as intense as we’ve come to expect and his link up play has been lacklustre.

Where once passes would be perfectly weighted and threaded through to on rushing teammates, they are now too easily intercepted.

Bobby needs a short spell out of the team to recover his form.

Takumi Minamino needs to start

Against Ajax we saw yet another impressive Takumi Minamino performance, he deserves to start in the near future.

The 25-year-old will be wondering just what he has to do to play himself into the Reds’ starting lineup.

Once again he was penetrative and threatening when coming on off the bench.

His passing was sharp and incisive, his pressing was relentless – his appearance was in sharp contrast to that of Roberto Firmino who he replaced.

With Bobby misfiring and not showing the same application as we have become accustomed to, Takumi Minamino thoroughly deserves to start in his place.
