Liverpool have to make a move this January. The Reds made a rare error in the summer transfer window when they gambled on the fitness of their back four, a gamble which hasn’t paid off. Michael Edwards will have to be decisive ahead of the window opening as he lines up a Virgil van Dijk replacement. Twitter has reacted to reports of Liverpool targeting Dayot Upamecano.

Virgil van Dijk injury
Somehow the man of steel has been proven human. It is a shocking time for us all and we’re just now coming to terms with the Dutchman’s mortality.
Jordan Pickford flew in at Van Dijk’s knees and tore the defender’s ACL.
We will have to finish the season without the Dutchman, barring a miracle recovery like the one we saw from Zlatan Ibrahimovic a few years ago.
The centre back’s injury means that the club will have to sign another defender in January.
Liverpool urged to sign Upamecano
Jamie Carragher has urged Liverpool to sign Dayot Upamecano, a player the Reds have been linked with extensively in recent weeks.
The Scouser made it clear on Sky Sports that the Reds have to have a player ready to come in on the 1st of January, they can’t afford to spend the month dilly dallying and negotiating.
The Reds have no option but to bring a player in, Liverpool signing Upamecano would make a lot of sense.
At 21-years-old he is one of the most promising young defenders in world football and he has the pace to play in the high line Jürgen Klopp has been operating with.

One user suggested Ozan Kabak would be a better option.
Another said the Reds need to go for a proven star.
Jonathan Tah’s name was brought up.
He would be worth it.
Of course, Kalidou Koulibaly was mentioned.
A Manchester United fan was left terrified.
