Goodison Park drama

What on earth happened on Saturday? Seriously. What happened?

The match officials had an awful game during the Merseyside Derby with both the VAR and on pitch referee getting two crucial decisions wrong.

The first and most obvious error was the decision not to send off Jordan Pickford for his thuggish lunge at Van Dijk.

The second, more contentious decision, was the ruling out of Liverpool’s winner when Sadio Mane appeared to be clearly on side.

Virgil van Dijk injury

This weekend we learned the extent of the Virgil van Dijk injury.

The Dutchman will likely be out for the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL when Jordan Pickford flew in at his knees.

The injury has left the Reds with only two natural centre backs in the first team, both of whom have struggled with their own injuries in recent seasons.

Some fans are optimistic that our remaining defenders can step up in his absence.

People offered to donate their own knees, I’ll join the pledge.

Supporters offered their well wishes.

Some are sickened by the fact that Pickford escaped punishment.

One fan joked that it’s about time James Pearce stepped up.
