Liverpool will simply have to up their scouting on Ben White over the next two months. The Reds reportedly like the Brighton defender.
Liverpool are supposedly big fans of Brighton defender Ben White. The 23-year-old spent last season with Leeds United and impressed as the side won the Championship,
And that was enough to catch Liverpool’s attention. No move materialised over the summer, of course, and White instead signed a new contract with Brighton.
But Liverpool supposedly remain interested. Liverpool Echo journalist Paul Gorst said at the start of the month that the Reds will continue to watch him over the course of the season.
You can bet that scouting will accelerate now, though.

Virgil van Dijk’s injury leaves Liverpool short at the back for the season. Only Joel Matip and Joe Gomez remain as senior centre-halves and that isn’t really enough for a title challenge.
So we believe Liverpool have to look for someone new in the January window. And if they plan on considering White anyway, surely it’s time to up the scouting.
The defender, who the Star believes would cost around £40m, is very highly-rated and would be a solid future investment, as well as a short-term one.
That is exactly what Liverpool need. They certainly wont want to spend big on a player they’d need to replace over the next few years. Someone who can come in and effectively be the third choice until Van Dijk returns works well, with the potential to be first-choice long-term.
White fits that profile. He doesn’t quite have the experience to demand first-team football at Liverpool. He is good enough to play for the club straight away, though and has massive room for growth.
So if Liverpool are watching him anyway, they simply must up any scouting before January.
