Liverpool have some exciting prospects emerging from the academy at the moment. We’ve seen Trent Alexander-Arnold rise through the ranks in recent years to become a world leading defender, Curtis Jones is currently staking his claim. Another one of our bright sparks has been impressing for his country, Wales boss Ryan Giggs has heaped praise on Neco Williams.

Ascent of Neco Williams
19-year-old Neco Williams has had a massive year and a bit at Liverpool.
The right back has been at the Reds since U9 level and has impressed at each youth category.
Originally a winger he was converted into a right back in recent years and the move has paid dividends.
Williams made his senior debut last season and went on to make 11 first team appearances, picking up a Premier League winner’s medal at the end of the campaign.
Ryan Giggs on Neco Williams
Wales left it late to beat Bulgaria 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League this week.
Jonny Williams put the Welsh ahead with just five minutes remaining when he converted a cross from the Reds’ full back.
Ryan Giggs has since heaped praise on Neco Williams, telling Sky Sports:
“I thought Neco his first start, on the other flank Rhys [Norrington-Davies] with his first start, were outstanding. Neco was brilliant, he’s done really well since he’s come into the team.”
What RTK has to say
Sure, he’s his national manager, but it’s always satisfying to see a Man United icon praising a Liverpool player.
Ryan Giggs has a special player on his hands in Neco Williams. Given that the 19-year-old is already nailing down a starting berth for Wales he could well rack up a considerable amount of appearances for them in his career.
Fingers crossed Neco maintains his strong form for his country as it’ll be crucial to his development given how hard it’ll be for him to get a game at Liverpool.
