"Upgrade": Twitter reacts as Liverpool linked with move for Jack Butland

Liverpool fans have been pleading for a change at the club in recent weeks. The Reds brought in Adrian as a short term fix last summer but he is still the number two goalkeeper at the club. Following another error in his last game, Kopites are hoping the Spaniard will be replaced. Twitter has reacted to reports of a potential Liverpool move for Jack Butland.

Calamitous Adrian

Adrian started last season pretty strongly after stepping in for Alisson for the first two months of the campaign, he won every one of his Premier League games.

However, more often than not when called upon since he has committed a game defining error.

The Spaniard’s follies saw us drop out of the FA Cup and Champions League last season.

Before the international break Adrian set the tone early on when he gifted Aston Villa the opening goal just minutes into the game. The defence looked shaken from then on.

Liverpool could move for Butland

According to the Sunday Mirror, Liverpool are in negotiations to sign Jack Butland.

The 27-year-old has nine caps for England and at a time was considered one of the most promising goalkeepers in the Premier League.

In recent years his career has been on the decline with Stoke City wallowing in the Championship.

Butland has fallen out of favour at the Potters, manager Michael O’Neill has dropped him from the side in favour of Adam Davies.

Twitter reacts to rumour

One fan believes in the goalkeeper’s potential.

Another believes he is better than Adrian.

He’s gotten some glowing endorsements.

He may well be an upgrade on the current backup.

One supporter would rather take the ageing Peter Shilton.

Another would look closer to home.
