LIverpool suffered one of their most bruising defeats of recent times before the international break. The Reds arrived at Villa Park expecting to continue their 100% start to the season, however, things went very differently. John McGinn has summed up how Andy Robertson has reacted to the defeat with one word.
Liverpool aren’t accustomed to losing, much less losing in humiliating fashion.
That is just what happened before the international break. The Reds journeyed to Villa Park with four first team stars absent from the starting lineup.
One of the backup brigade set the tone for the evening early on, Adrian gifting the hosts the lead just minutes into the game.
The defence looked rocked from that moment on and what ensued will long be burned onto the memory of Kopites the world over.
The score ended…it ended…I can’t even type it.
John McGinn on Andy Robertson
Some Reds have had the misfortune of having to face the nightmare initiators on international duty.
After linking up at the Scotland camp, John McGinn has revealed how Andy Robertson reacted to the defeat, telling Sky Sports:
“I think he understands. He’s won just about every other game over the past three or four years, so he can gives us this one.”
“[The match] was a bit strange. Obviously, I didn’t expect to beat the world champions so convincingly.”
The Villa star summed up Robbo’s reaction in one word: “respectful”.
What RTK has to say
We expect nothing less from Robbo.
Whilst the left back can be a fiery customer on the pitch he is still a consummate professional.
The Reds will be well aware that they are still firm favourites for the title and as long as they get their heads screwed back on then they won’t be suffering any defeats like this one any time soon.
For now, they just need to maintain their respectful attitude and come back stronger next time.
