Liverpool don’t often lose football matches. When they do they’re often narrow, irritating defeats, we’ll turn to the ref or the weather for excuses. Before the international break we suffered a defeat so heavy we could turn to nothing but burying our heads in the sand. Alan Hutton has claimed that Liverpool have a ‘massive’ problem with Alisson out for six weeks.
Villa Park nightmare
Nightmares are horrible. Nightmares you can’t wake up from are even worse.
Just before the international break Kopites were faced with a nightmare performance and a nightmare result; the Reds thoroughly battered by a side they should’ve beaten comfortably.
Jürgen Klopp’s side were humiliated at Villa Park. Alisson Becker out injured, Adrian set the tone for the evening when he gifted the opposition a goal just minutes into the game.
The defence never looked confident after the opener, the team capitulated. In their defence, the hosts did score three heavily deflected goals – we conceded no deflected goals last season.
Alan Hutton on Alisson absence
Jürgen Klopp told the press that Liverpool’s number one will be out for 4-6 weeks with injury. If this prognosis is correct then Liverpool have a ‘massive’ problem according to Alan Hutton. The ex-pro told Football Insider:
“Looking at the Liverpool team from the outside, you would say missing the goalkeeper or van Dijk, they’re massive parts of what Liverpool want to do.
“It’s massive shoes to fill and it’s a problem. Alisson’s a fantastic goalkeeper with his feet, shot-stopping, just all round so they’re massive shoes to fill.”
What RTK has to say
They aren’t just massive shoes to fill, they’re shoes Adrian looks incapable of filling.
The Spaniard has let us down time and again in massive ways, although he started the previous campaign strongly he has caused our elimination from the Champions League, FA Cup and set the tone for our worst defeat in decades.
Alan Hutton is unfortunately correct in his assessment of just how important Alisson is to this side given the haplessness of our backup keeper at the minute.
Fingers crossed Adrian turns it around and rediscovers the form he showed at the start of last season.
