Liverpool have made a number of youth signings in recent years. The Reds have been working tirelessly to secure a strong academy side that will produce players able to step into the first team when the time comes, saving the club millions in years down the line. Not all of these moves have worked out, one such unsuccessful youngster is set to see another temporary move. Anderson Arroyo has joined Salamanca on a season long loan.
Who is Anderson Arroyo?
Liverpool signed Anderson Arroyo in early 2018 after he impressed for his national side at youth level.
The Colombian full back was immediately loaned to Mallorca in an effort to help him gain a work permit.
However, the 18 month spell was cut short after he failed to make a single appearance for the first team.
The youngster was then sent out on loan to Gent with no success and then Boleslav in the Czech league, where he also struggled for first team minutes.
Anderson Arroyo joins Salamanca
The 21-year-old full back has now joined Salamanca on a season long loan.
The side play in Spain’s third tier, meaning that he is unlikely to obtain a work permit through playing for the side.
This will be the youngsters fourth temporary home since joining the Reds two years ago.
What RTK has to say
It is a shame that this starlet’s career has been so derailed since moving to Merseyside.
Work permits have always been a tricky one for us when scouting South American talents – we saw as much with Allan.
Fingers crossed he manages to get some first team minutes under his belt and he gets to kick on in his development.
It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen at Liverpool for him so we can only hope he finds somewhere to settle.
