Two of three players could well leave Liverpool today, according to one journalist. The Reds are looking to recoup some cash.

This comes from the Liverpool Echo’s Paul Gorst. In a Q&A on the Echo’s site, Gorst went over questions from fans, mainly centered on today’s transfer deadline.

One fan asked Gorst whether there will be outgoings today, given things had gone a little quiet. Specifically, he wanted to know about the futures of Marko Grujic, Harry Wilson and Xherdan Shaqiri.

“I still think two of those three will leave,” said Gorst. “There was some talk that Burnley had pulled out of the Wilson deal last week, though, so will be interesting to see what happens there.

“LFC adamant there’ll be no loan but he plainly won’t play if he stays put. Would rather see Shaqiri stay personally but his future does appear to be elsewhere.”

What RTK has to say

Quite honestly, we wouldn’t want to be the player who stays. As Gorst says, if it were Wilson, he almost certainly wouldn’t play. You can likely say the same for the other two, although not quite as certainly.

Still, there is potentially £60m incoming here. Liverpool reportedly want £20m each if the players leave and Gorst says they won’t entertain loans.

That’s a lot of cash. It nearly covers Thiago and Diogo Jota, in fact, with the former costing £20m and the latter £41m.

Fingers crossed, then, for everyone involved. Every party benefits if Liverpool can get that money for three players who, as we say, won’t feature much at all if they stay.
