Liverpool have become one of the most feared sides in world football since Jürgen Klopp took over the club in 2015. The Reds have become a pressing unit like no other with a counter attack to devastate any defence. This week the Reds continued their fine start to the season with an emphatic victory over Arsenal. Roy Keane and Gary Neville were gushing over the Liverpool ‘machine’.
Liverpool ease past Arsenal
This weekend was a nervy one for some Kopites when reports claimed that Alisson may not make the starting lineup to face Arsenal.
The Brazilian did make the side and he proved as crucial as ever, pulling off a vital save in the second half. However, our number one could do nothing to stop the first goal of the game after Andy Robbo inadvertently set up Alex Lacazette.
Sadio Mane equalised minutes later when he tapped in a rebound from Mo Salah’s well worked strike.
Robbo made up for his error soon after that when he ghosted in at the far post to convert Trent Alexander-Arnold’s inch perfect cross.
Keane and Neville on Liverpool
On Sky Sports, Roy Keane and Gary Neville were full of praise for Liverpool in reaction to their win over Arsenal.
Despite comments on a ‘sloppy’ performance, Roy Keane described Liverpool as a “like a machine”.
Gary Neville gushed over the teamwork, saying during the game:
“The pressing, the connection with each other, the anticipation of where the ball is going to go, it’s absolutely brilliant.”
Jamie Carragher also chimed in with an endorsement, claiming, “Liverpool are going to take some stopping.”
What RTK has to say
It must hurt Keane and Neville to see Liverpool becoming so dominant.
The two Manchester United legends were part of one of the greatest sides England has seen, now they are having to watch their old enemy get back onto their perch.
This Reds side will continue to draw praise such as this, they keep winning, they keep strangling opponents with their press.
Frankly, I just can’t wait to watch them play in the Premier League again, it is a treat to watch.
