Liverpool have been storming world football in recent years. One of the reasons that the Reds have been so dominant has been the form of their front three. Jürgen Klopp’s attacking line has been indomitable on the road to World Champion status. Sadio Mane recently entered the top 20 Liverpool goal scorers of all time and the forward is ecstatic about the record.
Mane blitzes Chelsea
Last weekend we saw Sadio Mane blitz a lacklustre Chelsea side.
The Senegalese forward got things going in the first half when his excellent run forced a red card for Andreas Christensen.
In the second half Sadio nipped in front of his man to nod home Roberto Firmino’s delightful chipped cross.
Soon after we saw Mane close down the hapless Kepa to seize on a loose ball and tap home for his second, a goal which provided the overkill for an already dead game.
Mane on entering the record books
The two goals meant that Sadio Mane entered the top 20 Liverpool goal scorers of all time.
The ex-Southampton man leapfrogged Luis Suarez and is now on 83 goals in 172 appearances. The forward told the official club site how excited he was by the feat:
“I’m really, really proud and really happy about it because as a player you always have targets and it’s one of my targets.
“So, I’m in the 20 top scorers [now] and I’m really happy about it. I’m looking forward to scoring more and more goals for the team and to be closer [to the rest of the names on the list].”
What RTK has to say
If he sticks around then who knows how high up the list Sadio could finish.
The forward is hitting his prime under Jürgen Klopp. His intensity and determination is rewarding him with goal after goal.
We can always count on him to give everything for the team and come up with the goods when needed, he’ll go down as an icon of the club when he hangs up his boots.
