This summer is emerged that Thiago had told Bayern Munich that he wasn’t willing to sign a new deal at the Allianz Arena as he entered the final year of his contract.

This led to a wave of rumours linking the playmaker with all and sundry, however, one club was linked more consistently than others.

Liverpool ended up signing one of the best midfielders in the world for just £20m plus £5m in bonuses, the fee to be paid throughout the duration of the player’s contract.

Lallana and Lucas react

There is something about Liverpool FC that gets under your skin. When you have played for the club for any period of time you tend to have an affinity for the people and the city. We have seen this consistently throughout history – Xabi Alonso said he’s raising his kids as Liverpool fans.

Liverpool will benefit massively from the addition of Thiago. He will transform our approach play, he is a world class player.

It is also touching to see that former players are still so engaged and invested in how the side are doing.
