This weekend Liverpool take on the old enemy. The Reds will be journeying to West London to take on Frank Lampard’s free spending Chelsea. Given just how much the Pensioners have spent this summer they are tipped to be title contenders this campaign. Speaking exclusively to Rousing the Kop, Anfield icon Emile Heskey has tipped Liverpool to beat Chelsea in a high scoring affair.

Very different windows

Liverpool and Chelsea have had completely different transfer windows.

The Chels have spent big on big names, paying incredible amounts for fantastic footballers, shelling out a king’s ransom on wages.

They have brought in Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell to name just a few.

Whereas Liverpool have managed to bag Thiago Alcantara, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota. Targeting problem areas with smart deals.

Emile Heskey on Liverpool visit to Chelsea

We spoke with Anfield icon Emile Heskey about the Liverpool visit to Chelsea.

The ex-England forward is confident that the Reds will come out on top, despite the raft of new arrivals at Stamford Bridge, predicting:

“I think there’ll be a few goals but I always go for Liverpool. Another thrilling one, probably 3-2 or something like that. Spectator wise that’s what you want to see, unless you’re a Liverpool fan and your heart is racing until it’s won.”

What RTK has to say

We have to agree with the ex-Red here.

We believe that Emile is spot on, it surely has to be a high scoring goring game given that the last tie ended in a 5-3 win for the Reds.

Whether or not Thiago manages to make the matchday squad remains to be seen, the Spaniard is allegedly eligible to play but it is doubtful that the boss would throw him into the mix so quickly.
