Liverpool have been savvy operators in the transfer market in recent seasons. The Reds have been unafraid to sell their biggest names, wisely investing the incoming funds. The Reds could have to brace themselves for a bid for one of their brightest stars; according to a report by The Express, Mo Salah is a ‘top target’ for Barcelona.
Magic Mo Salah
Liverpool signed Mo Salah from Roma in 2017 for a paltry £34m.
Since his arrival the Egyptian King has become a modern icon of the club, smashing records left and right on his way to legend status.
In his debut season at Anfield the winger broke the record for goals in a 38 game season, netting 32 goals.
Mo Salah wanted by Barcelona
The Express have reported that Mo Salah is a ‘top target’ for Ronald Koeman and Barcelona.
The report quotes Sjaak Swart as saying “I know Koeman wants him – and I know Salah would like to go.”
Ajax legend Swart is cited as one Koeman’s closest friends, lending his words some significant weight.
The Dutchman only recently took over at the Camp Nou, having left the Netherlands national side to replace Quique Setien.
What RTK has to say
If Mo Salah does head to Barcelona they will have to fork out something close to the £150m that El Desmarque claimed in February that Real Madrid were prepared to pay for the Egyptian.
Should the Reds receive a bid of that magnitude it would be hard to turn down.
However, such a bid should only be accepted if the club have a replacement lined up, a replacement such as Jadon Sancho or Kylian Mbappe.
Would it be such a bad thing to sell a 28-year-old Salah to bring in a 20-year-old Jadon Sancho or 21-year-old Mbappe?
We have maybe four more years of Salah at his best, we could get over a decade out of Sancho or Mbappe.
It wouldn’t be the end of the world if we received a crazy offer for Mo, that’s all I’m saying. I don’t want us to sell but I have every faith we would invest the money wisely.
