Liverpool don’t tend to splash out big money on players that are closer to 30-years-old than 20-years-old. The Reds prefer to spend money on footballers whose resale value will only increase over time. This approach has worked out well so far with the club bringing in players for bargain fees and transforming them into world class talents. We could well see another young baller brought in next season with Christian Falk tipping Liverpool to pursue Denis Zakaria.
Who is Denis Zakaria?
23-year-old Denis Zakaria plays as a defensive midfielder for German Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Swiss international wears the number 8 and stands at 190cm tall – about 6ft 2in in English money.
Last season the imposing midfielder clocked 22 starts in the league, netting twice and assisting twice – earning an impressive WhoScored rating of 7.15.
He is noted for his dribbling and tackling ability as well as his concentration levels.
Liverpool interest in Denis Zakaria
According to Christian Falk, Liverpool hold an interest in Denis Zakaria.
In an interview with Empire of the Kop the German transfers expert was asked if there were any Bundesliga bargains of interest to Michael Edwards. Falk replied:
“I know that Liverpool have their eyes on Zakaria of Mönchengladbach. This is a very talented player who will hit the market next year. A move to the Premiere League is easy for him to imagine.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool being interested in Denis Zakaria makes plenty of sense.
He is just 23-years-old, has a wealth of first team experience having cemented a first team place three years ago.
Next summer would also suit the Reds down to the ground given that we can’t afford to splash out any cash during this window due to the ongoing financial impact of the global health crisis.
Fingers crossed this story has legs, he would be an exciting buy.
