Liverpool have had a quiet summer to say the least. The Reds have sold Dejan Lovren and brought in Kostas Tsimikas but apart from that all moves have been in the academy. Some fans are growing concerned by the lack of arrivals whilst others are determined to trust the process. Jürgen Klopp has addressed the lack of transfers in an interview with Radio 5.
Liverpool sold Dejan Lovren to Zenit earlier in the window and brought in Kostas Tsimikas soon after.
The Lovren move has left the Reds without a fourth choice centre back and it is a hole that doesn’t look like getting filled any time soon.
Tsimikas’ arrival addressed the longstanding issue of cover for Andy Robertson at left back.
Klopp addresses transfers
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Jürgen Klopp addressed the lack of transfers this summer.
Jürgen commented that for some clubs the uncertainty at the moment isn’t as important as it is to Liverpool.
The boss pointed out that the Reds aren’t owned by an oligarch, as is the case with Chelsea, or by a country, as is the case with Manchester City.
The Anfield side cannot afford to throw money around when they don’t know when fans will be back in stadiums, when other revenue streams will recover – this is not the case, however, for teams backed by mega rich billionaires without a care.
Fans react to Klopp message
The Tactical Times believes that the message was much needed given all the talk in the Twittersphere.
Boy was this needed.
One league title and there are fans forgetting what the club is. They aren’t Man City, they aren’t Man United, they certainly aren’t Chelsea. For better or for worse, Liverpool FC is the way it is, and that way suits Jurgen Klopp. https://t.co/3AAgmNCPqR

One supporter said that the boss is right to be cautious.
Klopp’s right to be cautious especially which looks like a possible 2nd Covid wave just about to start. Fans ain’t going to get back in anytime soon and this is going to be the norm for at least june/July next year imo.
Klopp’s being prudent.

Another fan believes he epitomises the family man tag he’s been labeled with.
I love Klopp so much. When the players say he’s like a father, a friend, and a manager, these are no mare words, I honestly believe them cos he epitomises that

He’s got the full backing of some supporters.
I fully trust our boss

Others just need to be patient and trust the gaffer.
The doubters and moaning minnies out there need to take a breath and listen to this man…let’s be patient and see what happens

Whilst it is a shame that he has to be the one to defend the strategy.
It’s horrible that he has to continually be on the front line shielding the burden of the clubs transfer strategy.
