Liverpool still have some loose ends to tie up before the season starts. The Reds could do with some cover up top, perhaps a more dynamic midfielder and certainly another centre back. The club sold Dejan Lovren at the start of the window and are yet to fill his place in the squad. Liverpool have since been linked with a move for Diego Carlos – a transfer that many Kopites are dreading the thought of.

Who is Diego Carlos?

27-years-old and Brazilian, Diego Carlos plays centre back for Sevilla.

The defender was a key part of the club’s Europa League triumph despite seemingly insisting on giving away penalties whenever he could.

Come on, he conceded one in the quarters, one in the semis and one in the final. How do you even do that?

Despite his patchy record with spot kicks the defender has supposedly impressed some of the biggest clubs in Europe with his displays last season.

Liverpool want Diego Carlos

According to Marca, Liverpool are considering a move for Diego Carlos.

The Spanish outlet has claimed that Manchester City and Manchester United are also contemplating a move for the centre back.

Back in April the same paper claimed that Klopp believes he would be a ‘perfect’ signing, also reporting that he has a €70m release clause.

Personally, we can’t put much stock into reports coming from Spain – they tend to get a lot of it wrong.

Kopites not sold

One fan wasn’t impressed with his performances in Europe.

Another was slightly more diplomatic.

The potential cost put a lot of fans off.

Others would rather just give youth a chance.

And some really don’t want him.
