Liverpool have been quieter than most during this transfer window. There has been one sale in Dejan Lovren and one arrival in Kostas Tsimikas. Whereas Chelsea have assembled an armada of new stars and Manchester United have started to splash their cash, the Reds have held back. The club are thought to be in for a new centre back but Liverpool could be disappointed to learn that reported target Ben White is allegedly close to agreeing a new deal with Brighton.
Liverpool target Ben White
Dejan Lovren departing for Zenit has left Liverpool down a centre back.
The Reds are thought to be looking for a fourth choice to fill the hole left by Lovren, however, who’s to say where in the pecking order an incoming defender would be.
According to The Mirror and various other outlets Liverpool hold a strong interest in Ben White.
The defender impressed whilst on loan at Leeds United last season, his composure on the ball and range of passing will have impressed the Reds’ scouts.
Ben White to sign Brighton deal
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool target Ben White is close to signing a new deal at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The youngster has allegedly already turned down a number of contract offers from the club and the club themselves have turned down offers for him from Leeds United.
The defender will be signing on improved terms as the club look to tempt him to stay. He currently has two years left on his deal with an option of a third.
What RTK has to say
If Liverpool do want Ben White then signing him is about to get a whole lot harder.
However, it is unlikely that the Reds would’ve wanted to stump up the amount of cash it would take to prize him from Brighton.
Liverpool are more likely to pursue a deal for cheaper reported targets such as Schalke defender Malick Thiaw.
