If Liverpool are to make any additions to the first team before the start of the season they are certainly leaving it very late. The Reds’ season kicks off in 10 days and they have thus far only brought in a backup left back, despite persistent links with top talents across Europe. According to 90Min, Liverpool could target Marcelo Brozovic, entering the race at a ‘later date’.
Who is Brozovic?
27-year-old Marcelo Brozovic plays as a centre midfielder for Inter Milan.
The Croatian centre midfielder joined the Milan side from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015.
The Inter star has 51 caps for his country, starting the World Cup Final in 2018 alongside Ivan Rakitic.
Liverpool chasing Brozovic
According to 90Min, Liverpool are interested in Marcelo Brozovic and could enter the race at a ‘later date’, as could Manchester United.
The report states that Chelsea are looking at taking the midfielder from their former manager Antonio Conte.
90Min claims that Bayern Munich and PSG are also in the race, however, Chelsea could have the upper hand as Inter are allegedly interested in the West London side’s N’Golo Kante.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Brozovic wouldn’t make much sense for us.
If the Reds have the option of signing Thiago Alcantara for half the price then why would they go for Brozovic?
Sure, the Croatian is two years younger and his wage demands wouldn’t break the bank as much.
However, this doesn’t account for the game changing passing ability of Thiago.
If a move for the Spaniard is completely off the cards then sure, this makes more sense. Until we know that we can’t secure Alcantara’s signature then Brozovic should surely be a second choice.
