Liverpool have been terrorising world football of late. In the last year and a bit we have seen some downright ridiculous performances from the Reds; they’ve made mincemeat of Bayern Munich and devastated Barcelona. Apparently the Camp Nou side may turn to Merseyside for reinforcements, according to TMW (via Sport), Barcelona want Sadio Mane to replace Lionel Messi if the Argentine leaves this summer.

Messi transfer request

The world was semi-shocked this week when Lionel Messi handed in a transfer request at Barcelona.

We say semi-shocked as, whilst there were rumours that the legend was fed up with his club’s decline, there was always a sense of he couldn’t actually, could he?

It turns out, he could. Whether or not the forward gets his wish remains to be seen, there are complicated legal things to be sorted out and resignations to be offered before the GOAT leaves the nest. Or wherever it is that goats live. The farm?

Barcelona want Mane

According to TMW (via Sport), Barcelona want Sadio Mane to replace Lionel Messi should he leave.

The Catalan giants would allegedly have to pay upwards of £107m (€120m) to buy the Senegalese forward.

The Blaugrana would undoubtedly want to replace their greatest ever player with another superstar and we can’t deny that Mane is a superstar.

What RTK has to say

Barcelona may want Sadio Mane but they aren’t getting him.

The Senegalese forward is unlikely to leave Anfield any time soon and if he does he would cost a lot more than £107m.

The Reds are unlikely to accept a fee any less than what the Catalan side paid for Philippe Coutinho back in 2018.

If we were to sell Sadio then we can rest assured that the money would be invested wisely, we would likely see the arrival of Jadon Sancho or a player of that ilk.
