Liverpool’s pre-season has been fraught with last minute changes and poor weather. However, the Reds’ preparations have also given us plenty to get excited about, particularly the form of Rhian Brewster. Liverpool fans have been celebrating on Twitter after Rhian Brewster netted two goals against Red Bull Salzburg.

Rhian returns

Liverpool loaned Rhian Brewster out to Swansea in January and the striker went on to fire the Swans into the playoffs.

City ended up being defeated by Brentford in the semi-finals but Brewster’s contribution can’t be overlooked.

The 20-year-old scored 11 goals during his time in Wales, picking up two man of the match awards along the way.

Now back with the Reds he will be looking to assert himself as a rotation option for the first team this coming season.

Brewster goals against Salzburg

Liverpool were uncharacteristically sloppy in the first half against Red Bull Salzburg.

The Reds were 2-0 down inside the first 15 minutes after a couple of errors let the rampant Austrian side in.

Brewster came on in the second half and changed the game with his poaching ability.

The wonderkid netted twice to level the game with his second goal particularly impressive as he managed to slot into a semi-empty net from range and under pressure.

Liverpool fans drooling over Brewster

Some Kopites are already comparing the striker to our rivals’ wonderkid.

Others believe we made a smart decision not pursuing Timo Werner.

He’s been complimented on his consistency and natural finishing ability.

Some want him ahead of Divock Origi next season.

He might even have a few lessons to teach the senior pros.
