Manchester City have bottled it yet again. The Citizens, for the third year in a row, have been eliminated from the Champions League at the quarter final stage. They just don’t have that european pedigree. Kopites were understandably delighted with their failure and took to Twitter to voice their satisfaction but their comments weren’t to everybody’s taste. Bernardo Silva has hit out at Liverpool fans in a tweet, Kopites have been lapping it up.
City dumped out of Europe
Manchester City were this week knocked out of the Champions League by the seventh best team in the French Farmers League – sorry – French Ligue 1.
Pep Guardiola’s side fell to a 3-1 defeat against Lyon in Lisbon with key players making big mistakes along the way.
Ederson should’ve done better for all three goals and Raheem Sterling missed an open goal when the match was in the balance.
Bernardo Silva hits out at Liverpool fans
Given the recent vitriol between the two sides and the two fan bases it can come as no surprise that Kopites were over the moon with City being knocked out.
We just don’t want them to win the Champions League. They’re new money, they haven’t earned a seat at the top table. They haven’t bought and sold and wheeled and dealed and worked for their success, they’ve just spent and spent and spent.
Bernardo Silva wasn’t too happy with Liverpool fans celebrating his side’s exit, he tweeted out his displeasure…not the wisest move.
And to all Liverpool fans that have nothing else to do than to come to a Man City player account, I’m also sorry for you but for the wrong reasons…😂 pathetic… go celebrate your titles, or try to find a partner, drink a beer with a friend, read a book…🤦🏻♂️ so many options!😅

Kopites react to Silva tweet
One supporter pointed out that Silva’s reaction highlighted the weak mentality that keeps getting City knocked out of Europe.
If you could sum up City’s weak mentality that sees them consistently bottle the UEFA Champions League in one tweet, what would it be? 👇 https://t.co/KLwiTIpKwL

John Aldridge even waded in, encouraging the midfielder to just chill out a bit.
Bernardo don’t fret about LFC fans, worry about you’re game, you’ve been poor this season! Enjoying my pint with my amigos 😉😁🍺ynwa

Leanne Prescott thought the singling out of Kopites was a strange move.
Bit weird this, given the incessant singing about Liverpool from City’s camp last summer. Also the minor point that social media ‘banter’ isn’t exclusive to Liverpool fans. https://t.co/TPy8IPjXG3

Did Silva really forget that there’s a video of the City squad singing about Liverpool?
Yes, imagine how pathetic you’d need to be to talk or SING about about club and their fans, instead of celebrating.
Short memory. https://t.co/hMOaMrPOny

You sang about our fans being beaten, you refused to respect the guard of honour and you’ve been cocky on social media from day 1. Don’t talk the talk if you can’t walk the walk. Cry more 👍🏼
