Jürgen Klopp looks to be closing in on his first addition of the summer with various outlets reporting that Liverpool are set to sign Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiakos.
Liverpool to sign Tsimikas
The 24-year-old Greek left back is a key member of the Olympiakos side which won the Super League title this year.
In 20 games this season the defender registered five assists, not a bad return for a side which doesn’t rely on its full backs as much as Liverpool.
The Greek defender will arrive as cover for Andy Robertson at left back.
At the minute there is no natural deputy for the Scotland captain; Neco Williams and James Milner have filled in in the past but the club have obviously felt it necessary to bring in reinforcements.
The move will give the boss the opportunity to rest Robertson before key games; if we have Southampton of a Saturday but Barcelona on the Wednesday then we can make sure that Robbo is entering the game fully refreshed.
Liverpool fans react to Tsimikas reports
One Greek fan told Kopites that the Reds were getting a bargain, saying that he will be pushing Robbo hard for a starting berth.
Liverpool fans u have got yourselves an absolute bargain. Tsimi is quality. Massively improved defensively, good going forward, still improving. Deserves a starters spot and dare i say it he will make Robertson sweat. Gutted he leaves us but at least he’ll continue wearing red 😉

Another supporter praised Liverpool’s approach, pointing out that they won’t be bullied into paying higher fees.
Like Liverpool’s approach. Can’t be held to ransom. Sending clear message to other selling clubs. Be reasonable or we move on. That’s a great philosophy coz there are always plenty of players for any one position.

Even Arsenal fans were impressed by the business.
I’m a gooner but I really respect Liverpool’s way of scouting and identifying players, we aspire to be as good as them at it, salute to Liverpool

Some Liverpool fans became, shall we say, optimistic?
Not one for exaggerating, but Kostas Tsimikas is quite possibly better than peak Roberto Carlos.

I’ve never seen Kostas Tsimikas play a single minute of football but I’m fully convinced that he’s the 2nd best LB in the world behind Andy Robertson.
