Liverpool have proven in recent years that there is plenty of value to be found in signing players from recently relegated sides. The Reds have bagged some of their most important players from sides making the drop into the Championship, Andy Robertson is perhaps the best value example. The Reds could be set to repeat the trick with Liverpool reportedly chasing Jamal Lewis – Kopites have given their verdict on Twitter.
Liverpool want Jamal Lewis
The left back had an impressive season in a struggling Norwich side with the Canaries relegated by some distance come the end of the campaign.
Liverpool bringing in Jamal Lewis would provide Andy Robertson with much needed cover.
There is currently no natural left back backup at the club with James Milner and Neco Williams being deployed there as makeshift options.

At 22-years-old Lewis is the ideal age to come in as an understudy for the Scotland captain, he is young enough to improve and be content with a backup role whilst being old enough to have considerable first team experience.
Liverpool fans want Jamal Lewis
One Kopite described the signing as having no negatives, dismissing the shortsighted dissent some fans have expressed.
I genuinely can’t believe the amount of disappointment I’ve seen around the Jamal Lewis story. Who did people think we were going to sign as a rotation full-back? Yes, it’s not the most star-studded name, but it’s addressing a problem area. There are no negatives to this.

Whilst another supporter said it would be a tough decision for Lewis as he may find himself struggling for game time.
Actually a tough decision in terms of development for him. Robertson barely gets injured and is maybe the best LB in the league.

Plenty of fans have suggested that wantaway youngster Yasser Larouci could sweeten the deal.
10m + Larouci 🤝

This Red expressed his relief given that we haven’t had a backup since the departure of Alberto Moreno.
Perfect cover for Robbo, something we’ve been needing ever since Moreno left. Great news this

When it comes to transfer policy, if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it.
Would be a smart piece of business, it’s amazing to think there are fans out there crying about the club not splashing hundreds of millions on new players. Have they not been paying attention to the way the club operates and how successful it has been?

Why spend hundreds of millions players who are just going to disrupt squad harmony?
I like the players we are being linked with. They’ll strengthen the squad without disrupting the first 11. All 3 players will improve greatly under Jurgen’s coaching, Sarr and Lewis in particular. Mr Edwards and Mr Klopp have proved to be clever operators in the market #LFC
