There is always a main character for a transfer window. In previous years it has been Nabil Fekir and Kylian Mbappe, many thought this year’s leading light would be Timo Werner. However, Liverpool signing Thiago Alcantara has become this summer’s main narrative. Kopites should be getting excited, reports in Spain have claimed that a deal is “very likely”.

Midfield maestro

In the last decade Thiago has established himself as one of the finest playmakers on the planet.

The ex-Barcelona man has been pulling the strings in the Bayern Munich midfield since 2013, winning the Bundesliga title every year since his arrival.

The Spaniard may not grab as many assists as the likes of Kevin De Bruyne but he is pivotal to getting the ball forward and in dangerous areas.

Liverpool ‘very likely’ to sign Thiago

For weeks the Liverpool transfer news has been dominated by reports about Thiago Alcantara.

The Reds have been seemingly on the brink of bringing the Spaniard in for some time now but there has been no movement since the initial reports.

Kopites do have some cause to get excited though, Mundo Deportivo has claimed that Liverpool are ‘very likely’ to complete a deal to sign Thiago. The transfer is reported to cost around £27m.

What RTK has to say

This is the move that Kopites didn’t know they wanted until a few weeks ago but now they want noone else, funny how that works isn’t it?

Liverpool signing Thiago would help solve the creativity issues that the Reds have had in midfield in recent seasons. In truth Jürgen Klopp never replaced the flair and vision of Philippe Coutinho.

At £27m the Spaniard would be an absolute bargain. However, given that he is 29-years-old, signing the midfielder would be a massive break from a recruitment policy which has focused on younger talents.

Who knows which way this one will go, he would definitely improve the side. Watch this space.
