That’s that then. It was Liverpool’s year finally. The Reds have finished the season as champions with a whopping 99 points having beaten Newcastle United 3-1 on the final day of the season. Goals from Virgil van Dijk, Divock Origi and Sadio Mane sealed the points for the Reds following a shocking opening 30 seconds which saw the hosts go ahead. Liverpool fans have been drooling over the Origi goal.
Prior to today Origi had gone 23 games without a goal, not netting since December. In fairness he did score two worldies against the Ev before Christmas.
Plenty of fans had started to ask questions about the Belgian following a string of frustrating, disappointing showings. The striker has a knack for scoring massive goals but fading away in comparatively unimportant games.
His winning goal today demonstrated great confidence and technique, dipping out of the reach of Dubravka in the Newcastyle net.
Kopites over the moon
Liverpool fans love Origi. No matter what happens with his Anfield career from this moment on he will be regarded as a legend for the goals he scored.
Perhaps all of the highs he gives the crowd is the reason why the prolonged goal droughts feel so low. One thing is for certain, Kopites were made up that it was Divvy that got the winner.
This Liverpool fan believes Origi is unstoppable when at his best.
What a goal it was. Origi is a beast when he is at his best.

Melissa Reddy perfectly captured the frustration of loving the striker.

Though some pointed out that he does the job of an old fashioned striker.
That’s what strikers do! No dig at Firmino, but unfair on Origi to expect him to do what firmino does.

Some fans insisted that he is reminiscent of the much adored Luis Garcia.
Luis Garcia was the same

This generation’s Garcia.

And some couldn’t even give him the credit he deserves.
Supposed to be a pass 😂

But of course, there’s only one word for Big Divock Origi.
