Liverpool are unlikely to make any major changes to their starting lineup over the next few months. The Reds have one of the strongest starting XIs in the world and don’t have the money to spend the tens of millions it would take to shake that up. However, the Reds may look to strengthen their depth in attack. According to reports in Italy Victor Osimhen may still move to Liverpool after he switched agent.
Napoli negotiations nixed
However, Calcio Napoli have now reported that the striker has switched agent in order to secure a move to the Premier League.
The Nigerian forward is thought to have his heart set on a move to England with Calcio Napoli also claiming that Jürgen Klopp has asked the board to make the move happen.
A plan B striker
Osimhen would be an entirely different option for Liverpool up top. The Nigerian forward is quicker and stronger than Roberto Firmino and more imposing in the air.
The Lille forward is also a more natural, out and out number 9 than the deep lying Firmino.
At just 21-years-old the striker does fit the profile for FSG, he has plenty of time to improve his value on and off the pitch.
What RTK has to say
Victor Osimhen would be an expensive signing given that he is unlikely to be a starter any time soon.
The International Business Times has reported that Napoli were poised to pay a gargantuan €81m for the striker. We can’t imagine that the Reds would be willing to fork out anywhere near that sum for a backup forward.
Given that Liverpool couldn’t sanction the purchase of the long time Klopp target Timo Werner for much less than the €81m that Osimhen would cost, this seems an unlikely move.
