Liverpool are a gigantic football club. The Reds dominated football in the 1970s and 80s and are now climbing back atop their perch. Owing to the club’s reputation there are a number of famous footballers who support the club, one such player recently got a pleasant surprise from the gaffer. Twitter has been reacting to Jürgen Klopp messaging Adebayo Akinfenwa following his League One playoff final win.
Yesterday saw Wycombe Wanderers win the League One playoffs, securing their place in the second tier of English football for the first time in the club’s history.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game Klopp was named by Akinfenwa as the only man allowed to message him on Whatsapp for a celebration.
The imposing forward recently had to pay a fine for turning up to Wycombe training wearing a Liverpool kit as he lapped up the Reds’ title success.
The 38-year-old got his wish later on Monday evening when Jürgen Klopp sent him a video message congratulating him on his promotion, it is safe to say that the striker was made up.
Football fans were touched by the gesture from the boss, calling it ‘heartwarming’ and praising the ‘class’ showed.
Jurgen Klopp is so heartwarming. Love it.

Akinfenwa is a cult figure in the lower leagues, this was a meeting of two legends.
A WhatsApp from one legend to another… that is the nuts!

As Mondays go, few of us have had few better than the one Akinfenwa enjoyed this week.
Well done big man, just got promoted to the championship and then got a message from the gaffer, I’d doubt you’ve had many better Mondays 💪💪

Of course, the Reds are missing a target man…someone to bully defenders when they park the bus…
Klopp should sign him, Akinfenwa is definitely banging 40 goals a season and winning the Ballon d’or
