What an incredible moment in an incredibly boring game of football. Today Liverpool bored us all to tears but somehow managed to beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield. The Reds made hard work of it but eventually came out on top in a game of few chances. The major highlight of the game was Curtis Jones scoring his first Premier League goal for the club. Kopites have been celebrating the Curtis Jones goal on Twitter.

This week saw the Scouser sign a new five year contract with Liverpool. The local lad has been with the club since U9 level and has had a breakthrough season under Jürgen Klopp.

Jones has been given regular starts in the cup competitions this campaign, scoring a memorable winner against Everton in the FA Cup at Anfield in January. He has now netted his first Premier League goal and will certainly be looking to maintain his progress in the final games of the season.

Kopites were falling over themselves with praise for the youngster. It’s safe to say that the fan base are made up to have a local lad netting at the Kop end again.

Reds fans were made up for the lad, well aware of how much it must mean to him to score his first league goal for the club.

One supporter went so far as to claim he made more of an impact during his cameo than some established pros did in our last two games.

Some fans were challenging our rivals’ favourites to match up, to be taken with a pinch of salt perhaps.

But of course, what better way for the lad to celebrate his new contract?
