Liverpool finally returned to Premier League action on Sunday in a 0-0 draw against Everton. Here are our player ratings on a slow day for the Reds.
Alisson Becker – 8
Did everything asked of him. A couple of good saves and his passing was spot on.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 5
Just one of those days. Heavily involved and never hid but nothing came off.
Joel Matip – 7
One who suffered an unfortunate injury. Played well, though, on his first start for some time.
Virgil van Dijk – 8
Gets out Man of the Match. Your usual Van Dijk performance as he kept a make-shift Liverpool defence ticking over to have Everton at bay for 0-0.

James Milner – 5
Went off injured in the first half and failed to get into the game as Liverpool focused down their right flank.
Fabinho – 7
Started slowly but looked very assured once he got going. Unlucky not to win the game with a late free-kick.
Jordan Henderson – 7
More involved than anyone, really. Covered the pitch well but a fairly average game otherwise.
Naby Keita – 6
Floated in and out of the game but had his moments. Not as effective as we hoped, though.
Sadio Mane – 5
A surprisingly quiet game from Mane. Rarely found space and when he did, he couldn’t take advantage.
Takumi Minamino – 6
Minamino looked quite bright before going off at half-time. Nothing really came off for him but some promising signs.
Roberto Firmino – 6
Wasted arguably Liverpool’s best chance but did link up well with others. Just didn’t look as sharp as he can.
Joe Gomez –
Strange game for Gomez as he played left-back for the first time in years. Provided a game-saving touch onto the post.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 5
Ineffective from the right when he came on. A difficult game for all the forwards, though.

Gini Wijnaldum – 4
Very quiet when he came on and rarely got involved.
Divock Origi – 4
Surprisingly played from the left when he came on. Didn’t really do anything.
Dejan Lovren – 4
Managed to fall over twice defending the same dribble. Liverpool looked shaky once he was on.
