Bayern Munich are in pole position to transfer Kai Havertz, according to reports. Liverpool reportedly deemed the player too expensive.
This comes from the Telegraph, who say that Bayern want to add both Havertz and Leroy Sane in the transfer window. The former will cost over £75m and despite interest from Chelsea, the Bavarians are closer to Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price.

Sky Germany reported back in April that Havertz wanted to head to Bayern. Taking all of this as true, it surely won’t be long before all parties wrap this one up.
What RTK has to say
Havertz and Liverpool are two names you’ll have seen together quite a lot in recent times. Reports in both England and Germany put the two together but the truly decisive one came in February.
The Independent said back then that Liverpool valued Havertz at half of Bayern’s £80m asking price. That pretty much ended any hope, given the enormous amount of negotiation needed.
And that was before the economy crashed.
Since then, Liverpool have pulled out of a deal for Timo Werner on financial reasons. They may not sign anyone, in fact, as it’s too much of a risk right now.
With that in mind, the chances of signing Havertz for £75-80m essentially dropped to zero.

If Bayern have the money and are willing to spend, then it appears he’s theirs. Liverpool will instead lean on their world-class squad once again, hoping it can pull them to further success next season.
And as exciting as Havertz would be, that’s certainly the safe option in these times.
