Victor Osimhen has not agreed a deal with Napoli and Liverpool have made contact, according to his agent. They’re not the only ones, however.
Osita Okolo, Osimhen’s agent, spoke to All Nigeria Soccer this week. He denied claims that his player has agreed a move to Napoli and instead made it clear that there were plenty of options.
“Napoli has not agreed a deal with Osimhen,” said Okolo. “All the mentioned clubs [Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Chelsea] have made contact with him.”
This isn’t the first time Liverpool and Osimhen have been linked together. Le10Sport said back in April that the Reds wanted the player and that he’d cost up to £70m.
The 21-year-old has caught the eye this season and grown his reputation considerably. Having joined Lille last year, Osimhen went on to score 18 goals before football stopped in France.
Understandably, an 18-goal 21-year-old will naturally grab the attention of Europe’s elite.
What RTK has to say
It’s difficult to know what’s simply agent talk and what’s true when it comes to Osimhen. One thing we can be sure of, however, is that if the £70m Le10Sport claimed is true, then Liverpool won’t move for the player and their enquiry probably stopped there.
They reportedly pulled out of a deal to sign Timo Werner for less than that, after all. The German is a far more experienced player and represents a far lower risk than Osimhen.
Taking that into account, it wouldn’t make much sense for Liverpool to drop out of that deal to push for this one.
