Kalidou Koulibaly could have a huge 30% price drop this summer, according to reports. Liverpool supposedly want the Napoli defender.

Gazzetta Dello Sport claims that Koulibaly’s original price of €100m (£87m) is unobtainable right now. Instead, he could move on for as ‘little’ as €70m (£62m).

And Gazzetta see a move as very possible. They label England as the ‘probable’ next destination for the Senegalese defender and that should alert Liverpool fans.

The Reds supposedly want the player, after all. Le10Sport recently said that they’ve talked to sources who are ‘optimistic’ that the move will happen.

Tutto Mercato Web, too, believes a move could happen. And Gazzetta themselves said that Dejan Lovren could head the other way in a deal.

What RTK has to say

This would certainly be welcome news to Liverpool – if they’re truly interested. The Independent recently claimed that the Reds will play things with caution this summer, thus a 30% price drop in any target will be fantastic news.

And we hope they want him. This would potentially be a game-changing transfer for Liverpool, making them the world’s best in three areas.

In fact, few transfer rumours have the power to excite more than this one right now. The idea of a Virgil van Dijk/Koulibaly partnership is an incredible one and it is one of the few possible transfers that would push this team on further.

Money is the only real sticking point. Koulibaly would be far too pricey at £87m in the current climate but a significant price drop makes it a tantalising prospect.

Then it just comes down to how big a risk Liverpool see the move as. Fingers crossed they think he’s worth it.
